The City of Decatur Municipal Court has jurisdiction over Class C Misdemeanor criminal cases, including traffic violations, for which the maximun fine upon conviction does not exceed $500 (not including state and court costs), and for which no jail sentence may be assessed. Consequences of ignoring a citation
Failure to complete one of the options above on or before the response date on the citation will result in:
- A warrant being issued for your arrest at which time the fine amount will be the maximun allowed by law PLUS Court costs and fees.
- A request for the Texas Department of Public Safety for the denial of the driver license renewal.
A telephone call does not constitute a response. Inability to pay a fine is not an excuse for failure to answer.
Please note juvenile offenses (ages 10-16) must appear in person with a parent or legal guardian for a court hearing.
